A software developer has sued the Healthcare Distribution Alliance for allegedly pressuring members to use the association's own software in violation of federal antitrust law, the National Law Review reported Tuesday.
TraceLink is a Massachusetts-based company that develops software allowing life science companies to comply more easily with federal and international regulations. In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court of eastern Virginia, the company alleges that HDA coerced and persuaded members to use the association's own software to monopolize the market on the technology.
HDA is an association representing drug distribution companies. Among grievances listed in the lawsuit, TraceLink claims HDA requires customers to enter into non-compete clauses that prevent them from transferring information entered into the association's software into rival products.
TraceLink is seeking $30 million in damages.
The association had not commented on the lawsuit as of Wednesday. http://bit.ly/2lEkl25
